Restating The Aim of Finishing Touches

It is 2014 and I have owned Finishing Touches for nine months. The first nine months have certainly been a learning curve as I was completely new to retail and the world of cake supplies. Jackie established a successful and necessary business and it is now my responsibility to move it forward. I am pleased to say that Jackie is joining me in this journey and works at the shop part-time.

The shop is small but fully-stocked and it is my aim to keep introducing new and up-to-the minute cake decorating and preserve making products. So for that reason you will see cake frills alongside cake lace!

It is also my aim to keep the prices as low as possible – they are often below the RRP and certainly competitive when compared with the internet and large suppliers such as Lakeland and John Lewis.

Quality is another aim and I stock the best brands such as Silverwood and Masterclass bakeware. All cake decorating products are branded such as FPC, Katy Sue, Karen Davies, PME, etc etc As far as possible, I source products from the UK, with Silverwood being based in Birmingham since 1966. Many of the ribbons are from the UK or France.

I am looking forward to completing my first year in business and would like to take this opportunity of thanking customers for their continued support. It is lovely having such a diverse range of customers from the hobby baker who makes the occasional cake to professional cake decorators. I have loved setting up a Facebook page for the local community and at this point in time there are nearly 400 members. I have also learnt a lot about preserve making and must have a go this year!

So, to finish, I would just like to thank everyone who has shopped at Finishing Touches and also wish everyone a Very Happy New Year.
